Majlis Hari Raya Durham My

Walau pun, sederhana tetapi tetap meriah. Sebahagian besar warga durham my hadir memeriahkan majlis.

Durham My mengucapkan Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Adha.

SEVENTEEN hardy cyclists pedalled 40 miles to raise money for children in Gaza.

Members of Durham University’s Islamic Society (DIUS) and Durham Malaysian Scholars (DMS) cycled from Durham to Hamsterley Forest, near Bishop Auckland, and back on Saturday, June 6.

The ride lasted six-and-a-half hours.

The start was witnessed by Councillor Dennis Southwell, the Mayor of Durham, who stressed the importance of volunteering for worthy causes.

Maszlee Malik, president of DIUS and DMS, said: “Though looking tired and soaked to their bones, all cyclists expressed satisfaction at having completed the cycle.”

He added that although the war in Gaza was over, schools must be rebuilt, medical supplies needed replenishing and the road to recovery for the Palestinian people would take years or decades.

“It will never be the last and we will continue to do all the actions needed to help children who have been the victims of war, not only in Gaza but also in Iraq, Afghanistan, Darfur and all over the world.”

Nearly three weeks ago, we have successfully organised this amazing event to raise money for the children of Gaza. Alhamdulillah with all support from the participants, organiser, marshalls and those who have contributed for this event, we managed to finish 40 miles cycling distance return from Durham City to Hamsterley forest.

Alhamdulillah, up to now, we manage to collect £2900 and still receiving some more donation.

All the pictures can be seen at our facebook.

Congratulation for all and thank you very much for the contributors.

Shalom.
